Mount Pleasant Mennonite Chesapeake, VAThe overall goal of the design for Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church was to provide a simple pre-engineered metal sub-structure that would keep construction cost to a minimum. The master plan was to incorporate this new building into a 25-year plan including a future softball field, soccer field, as well as an expansion to the existing elementary school on their site. Another important design objective was to design a building that would fit into the rural area where the church was located, while at the same time utilizing pleasant "barn-type" architectural elements that would be conducive to a Mennonite style of architecture.  |
